Did the Bills miss the boat on Maybin?

Going into the season, I knew that the Bills drafting of Aaron Maybin wasn't going to do jack s#$t this season. Everyone and their mother termed Maybin as being a project player. Not that there is anything wrong with project players. 

Mario Williams from the Texans was a project player his first year only getting 4.5 sacks, but in his second and third year, Williams had 14 and 12 sacks. At the end of the the day, we won't know what we have with Maybin until at least 2-3 years down the road. 

The issue I'm having with drafting Maybin is the Bills desperately needed an impact player at the 11th spot. Everyone knew expectations were high over the summer and Dick Jauron needed a winning season to save his job. That's the difference between the Williams and Maybin pick. The Texans were rebuilding, while the Bills seem to be reloading. 

Maybin's stats this year aren't pretty. 5 games, 3 tackles. To make the pick more dubious is the other player the Bills were debating about taking, Brian Orkapo of the Redskins, has 2.5 sacks and 15 tackles on the year. 

Now will Maybin become a bust? No clue. But I assure you, Dick Jauron won't be reaping the benefits of what Maybin may become.
