It looks like the oldest member of the Sabres is hanging up his skates. A Finnish newspaper is reporting that Teppo Numminen is retiring. The defenseman is siting being worn down and not being able to play at a high level anymore. The
Numminen has been with the club since 2005 and played as the 6
th defenseman for the team.
Numminen was a class act and was nominated for the Lady Bing trophy.
Numminen's tenure with the Sabres may be best remembered for being suspended after being diagnosed with a heart
aliment prior to the 2007-2008 season. The suspension caused a backlash from fans and the players union.
Teppo showed a lot of class by downplaying the suspension, which he could of made a bigger issue.
Teppo has played for 1,372 games with Winnipeg,
Phoneix, Dallas, and Buffalo.
