Edwards should be kept on a very short leash

Remember Trent Edwards first start? It was his rookie year against the New York Jets and Edwards finished 22 of 28, 234 yards and 1 TD in a 17-7 win. Rich Gannon (who announced the game) said Edwards had one of the most impressive rookie debuts he had ever seen.

That game was week 4 of the 2007 season. Two years later, Edwards looks like a rookie. Some people still think it has to do with him getting a concussion in the Arizona game, while others are blaming it on coaching.

But the Bottom line is the Bills brought in Terrell Owens and the no-huddle attack to bring Edwards to the next level, but Edwards has faltered. He doesn't have the bravado or confidence to reach the next level. In two weeks against two defenses that are average to say the least, Edwards has 1 touchdown and 4 interceptions and just barley over 300 yards passing.

With the Bills coaches jobs on the line (even though a 6 million dollar buyout to fire Jauron doesn't sound like something Wilson would do), maybe the Bills need to make a change at QB. I never thought I'd be lobbying for Ryan Fitzpatrick to start. Edwards isn't the answer anymore. Do you believe that Edwards still doesn't have a 300-yard passing game in his career? And to make matters worse, the Bills haven't had a 300 yard passer since 2006.

He's become gun shy, and is either looking to check down or take a sack. That's not how you win in the NFL. Edwards couldn't stand the Miami sun today, going 14/26 for 192 yards 1 td to go along with 3 INT's (one returned for a TD).

Today Edwards saw a QB making his first start in Chad Henne. Like Edwards, he was very impressive in his debut, going 14-22 for 122 yards and a touchdown. Edwards could only wish he was a rookie again, because he's has nothing else to prove. He's not NFL material.
