-Attention Tyler Myers. Please call a real estate agent because you aren't moving back to Canada. The dude was incredible tonight. I said in my Sabres preview that Myers could be the cure to the playmaking center the Sabres have been looking for. His rush on the Pat Keleta goal was an all-star level NHL play. He's also really impressing me with his work on the point on the PP. Move the puck big man!-
-Welcome to the 2009 season Derek Roy, 3 assists along with an incredible pass to Thomas Vanek for the Sabres 3rd goal of the game. Maybe Dick Jauron should bring Roy to practice to help Trentative with his passing issues-
-See what happens when you crash the net! This was the first game I've seen in a long time where the players weren't afraid of getting down and dirty in scoring goals. All the Sabres goals were about getting in the front of the net tonight. The Sabres don't have the type of offense that will score cute goals. They have to play a rugged style-
-Sabres came into the game scoring only 4 goals in their first 3 games of the season, but matched that output in just the second period alone. The team is leading the league in shots on goal, averaging 37 a game-
-Ryan Miller had another solid night in goal, but you really didn't notice because the quality scoring chances were very low. That's what happens when your team dominates puck possession-
-Bad news for the Sabres, Thomas Vanek who scored 2 goals, left the game in the second period due to an upper body injury (team is calling it). Ruff didn't elaborate, but said Vanek would miss weeks of play. Have to wonder who will be called to the 1st line with Vanek gone-
-Memo to Versus, how about hiring a Chris Mortenson or Peter Gammons type analyst to talk about the hockey happenings in the NHL. Enough of the intermission reports of looking at the highlights from the previous period-
-How sad is it that the Sabres scored double the goals/points the Bills had on Sunday. And trust me, the Wings have a better defense than the Browns-
-Um, was that really the Detroit Red Wings we played tonight?-
-Overall, great win for the Sabres, couldn't script it any other way. Ruff was right about the team working hard and sooner or later the goals would come. Still not ready to jump on the Stanley Cup bandwagon, but it was nice to actually sleep better about the play of a Buffalo sports team-
I watched the game on justin.tv and it was a Canadian feed and the intermission crew that was breaking down the game took a few shots at the Bills.
ReplyDeleteDude, we are a laughing stock
ReplyDeleteVaneks out for a bit
ReplyDeletewas at the game. things i liked (and i cant believe im about to say this)...derek roy did not piss me off, and henrik tallinder played well. actually, roy was one of the best players on the ice. 3 assists aside, he was buzzing around the puck all night and backchecked like a rabid dog. i can dig that. tallinder was hardly noticed expect on one bad pass up the middle but overall, he looks good wth myers.
ReplyDeletespeaking of myers...im trying not to jump out of my skin here, but he looks to be the real deal.
lastly, i am loving pat kaleta more and more. say what you want about his visor and lack of fighting, but the guy is a menace and a ferocious, angry attacker. he doesnt take his foot off the gas when chasing guys down. i can also dig that. lets just be glad he's on the sabres. my friends who live out of town and root for other teams cant stand him...good.
oh one more thing. to the people sitting in section 321...thank you for not yelling shoot on the power play all night. that DRIIIVEES....ME.....NUTS.
