What do the Sabres do about their roster?

Well the Sabres are at it again. They have way too many players and not enough roster spots. Adam Mair and Toni Lydman are returning from injuries after Thursday night's tilt against the Coyotes. 

The Sabres are going to have to waive or send someone down to Portland. Here's what you have to do. Waive either Tallinder or Lydman. Look, the Sabres for the most part aren't going to go anywhere this year. Sure, they may make the playoffs and get bounced in the first round.

You can listen to the apologists on WGR say the team is on the rise and they are bringing old time hockey back to the NHL. Please, the team is in transition. And more importantly Tallinder and Lydman will be unrestricted FA at the end of the year. Besides Teppo, can you tell me the last UFA the Sabres resigned? Exactly, they don't. So those guys are as good as gone. And how much did the Sabres miss Lydman against Montreal on Saturday? The team's defense looked just fine without him. 

I wrote before that the only way the Sabres go from mediocrity to prominence is by their youth. You know what you get with Tallinder and Lydman, average defenseman. It's time for the team to find out what their youth is going to do for them. Pushing them till next year won't do the kids any favors.
