If you read some of my earlier blogs, you will know I hate it when media outlets have an agenda with covering certain sports teams for financial reasons (ESPN & NFL and the Sabres and WGR). For the last week or so, Trent Edwards has been getting lit up on WGR. I've taken the stance that a lot of his criticism has been a tad unfair, because its preseason and the Bills have been without Owens. Obviously, WGR doesn't agree with my opinion. But WGR does have a tendency to use the injury excuse more than enough when it comes to talking Sabres.
I've heard Howard Simon, Jeremy White, and Schopp & the Bulldog constantly say the reason the Sabres didn't make the playoffs last year was because of the injury to Ryan Miller. They stick to the excuse like glue. Is it just me or is that the same situation when it comes to Edwards struggling? Let me know if I am wrong.

ReplyDeleteyes theyve stated the injury to miller hurt their playoff chances, but they've also references losses to atlanta, ottawa, and NYI too. they've been pretty fair their.
and as far as their criticism of trent is concerned...have you listened to the callers of that show? these slobs act like its the middle of the season and trent hasnt thrown a TD yet. so maybe back off the WGR staff. its more the brilliant whiner line crowd and their uber-intelligent ramblings. plus the morning show guys are hacks, mendola is the corniest MF they have, Simon is a whiney, out of touch fart, and jeremy white is just there, doesnt bring much to the table except getting under jerry sullivans skin, which is rather funny to see that smug bastard lose his cool.
regardless...i love how annoyed YOU get when the criticism of the bills seems unfair, yet you're the first one to lay down some of the most unwarranted, unfair, uninformed criticism of the sabres. way to be balanced.
well you had me till the last paragraph... I've been critical of the Bills...show me where I havent...All i'm saying is i've heard the hosts say fans should be worried of edwards play, ...but they fail to mention how Owens not being in the lineup should be a factor...and all due respect If the Bills are my first love, while your first love are the Sabres...I'm a hell of alot more realistic about my expectations of the Bills than you are of the Sabres...you act as if the Sabres are the Yankees of hockey..
ReplyDeleteMy point for the argument with WGR is I dont mind them being critical of the Bills and ownership...but they sure as hell don't show the same when it comes to the Sabres whom are the same franchise as the Bills...kind of cheap and medicore... can't deny it...no playoffs in 5 of 7 years in the nhl where all teams seem to make the playoffs...that's never mentioned on WGR...but I hear the Bill O for the decade gets mentioned daily
