Jerry Sullivan at odds with Owens?

After being in Jerry Sullivan's chat on Friday, I came away with something I can see from a mile away. Sully isn't becoming a fan of Terrell Owens. Around the time Owens signed with the Bills, Sully blogged about how excited he was about the Owens signing, more so because T.O. was such a good story and was great with a quote. Something the Bills haven't had in a while for the media. But Sully's notebook and pen haven't been impressed with Owens speaking thus far.

"I have not requested a one-on-one with him yet. So far he has only granted larger interviews. Obviously, when he talks everyone is there. I should request a one-on-one to see if he will agree. I'm waiting to see what he does on the field. I really don't find him that compelling a character."

The telling quote from Sully was how he wasn't too thrilled about Owens dropping bomb shells with the Boston Media and not with the Buffalo Media.

"But I do plan to pay a visit to TO's locker. You know, I've been less than impressed with him in interviews so far. He's vanilla and basically says nothing, like Jauron. Then he goes on a call with Boston writers and says he doesn't like the no-huddle."

Translation: You spue vanilla quotes to the smaller Buffalo media market but then when the bigger market comes calling, you're a quote machine. This isn't the first time Sully has had a beef with a Buffalo athlete because of this. Bruce Smith use to be an a$$hole to the local media, especially to Sully. But when the national media came, Smith was all lollipops and rainbows.

It's not surprising Owens would save his best for the bigger markets. This is the guy who has a reality show and has played in three of the top 8 biggest markets in the country. Owens could really give a bleep what the local Buffalo media thinks of him considering they don't even have their own sports channel. But this could be telling card of things to come if Owens struggles. It's common knowledge for any sports fan to know, if an athlete isn't giving the media what they want as far as quotes goes, they are going to kind of bury you. Sully may be the one getting his popcorn ready, only to throw it at Owens for not being entertaining.
