-Well, it's great that Nancy Regan's "Just Say No" campaign is still being used in today's society, especially when it comes to what coaches have been saying to the Bills organization. What a complete joke and embarrassment! It's a slap in the Bills face for Brian Schottenheimer to say "thanks, but no thanks" for an opportunity to interview with the Bills. It's a telling statement on how the Bills are viewed by coaches in the NFL-
-I was listening to WGR this week, and Jerry Sullivan mentioned that Ralph Wilson doesn't really have a high regard towards Brian's dad, Marty. I wonder if the feeling is mutual? If that's the case, wouldn't you think Marty would give fatherly advice to Brian about working for the Bills?-
-Even with Schottenheimer saying no to the Bills, it's very risky for him to decide to stay put with the Jets. Remember what happened to Jason Garrett two years ago? Garrett was a hot coaching commodity and had an offer to coach the Ravens, but elected to stay in Dallas because of more money and thinking he was heir apparent to Wade Phillips. Unfortunately, Garrett's star fizzled a bit last year with the turmoil and struggles of the Dallas offense, and was only able to get an interview with the Rams. Now Garrett has rebounded a bit, but his stock will never be as high as it was two years ago. (Editor's Note: Sal Maiorana of the R&C made the same astute comment, but I had it on my mind two days ago)
-By the way, I still go on the record as saying that Garrett is my ideal coordinator to head coach candidate for the Bills job. One has to wonder though if Wade Phillips will tell Garrett the not so nice things that Ralph Wilson forced upon him while coaching in Buffalo. That same rhetoric goes for Russ Grimm with his ties with Mike Mularkey in Pittsburgh-
-I don't know about you, but I think the Bills head coaching job could be the worst in the NFL. The Cowboys and Redskins have hands-on owners, but at least they will pay through the nose for talent. The Raiders, who seem to be the Bills' sister organization of the west, have tradition, spend money on free agents (although in the wrong places) and have the California sun. Hell, at least they get on Sportscenter when they are playing like garbage and their coaches are having UFC matches with each other. Please tell me we why someone would want to come to Buffalo?
-How big of an embarrassment is it that in the two months since the Bills fired Dick Jauron, the team has had more interviews turned down than actually interviewing candidates. The Bills must feel like Jason Biggs from American Pie, who kept getting turned down when trying to find someone to take his virginity. Something tells me that Leslie Fraizer is going to be the only guy in the Bills clubhouse for a very long time-
-Why haven't the Bills contacted Brian Billick? He said he was interested in the coaching job and has a Super Bowl win, yet the Bills haven't even brought him in for an interview. It tells me that Wilson and company aren't big on bringing in a guy who would want to be hands-on with player personnel. God forbid that someone would tell Ralph Wilson that his decade run of incompetence with this franchise hasn't worked. Status quo all the way-
-I'm still waiting for John Guy and Tom Modrak to get fired. Yeah, I'm sure with this search for a coach process lasting forever, fans and the media will forget that the same two bozos running the team for the last decade are still employed-
